Republicans should have no problem swearing allegiance to our current Head of State and "her heirs according to law". They are not being required to swear allegiance to her "heirs according to male primogeniture" after all. If you wish to promote a republic by changing the law that is compatible with the oath. Only a desire to foment violent revolution is incompatible with it.
