Pitfalls for efforts to combat African poverty and corruption

From Mr Quentin Langley

Sir, While corruption in Africa is serious and widespread, it is not universal.

On Transparency Internationalís excellent Corruption Perceptions Index (2004), Botswana is perceived to be less corrupt than, for example, Italy and Greece, members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. In my opinion Botswana should be the first African country admitted to the OECD.
